Getting around Fuzhou

By Plane

Fuzhou airport links to most other major Chinese cities. The airport is an hour from downtown, about �20 by bus. The easiest way to reach Fuzhou airport is get the bus from Apollo Hotel. There are also complimentary shuttles to the Apollo Hotel from other places such as the Min Jiang Hotel. Shared taxis also go from there, at around �25. A private taxi would be at least �100.

Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) serves international flights to Hong Kong, Singapore, Osaka and Taipei. Fuzhou Airport is situated in a sandy area of southeast Zhanggang Town, Changle City, some 50 kilometers (about 31 miles) from downtown Fuzhou, and is a modern, seashore based International airport. There are now more than 80 domestic and international airlines to approximately 55 cities. Domestic services include flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jinan, Shenyang, Harbin, Chongqing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Kunming, Haikou, Urumqi and Xian, and another China major cities.

By Train

Fuzhou Railway Station is the transportation hub of Fujian Province. It is located at the north end of Hualin Lu, in the northern part of the Fuzhou downtown area. Fuzhou station is connected with the national railway network and operates services to Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Nanchang, Guiyang, Changsha, Hefei, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Shenzhen. Also there are tourist lines from Nanping, Longyan, Yong'an and Wuyi Shan to Fuzhou. Every day, 16 pairs of trains leave and reach Fuzhou Railway Station to and from 16 major cities of the country. Apart from the ticket offices set within the railway stations, there are also thirty-eight ticket offices in total all over the city, which greatly facilitate people to choose the nearest to them.

Train tickets can be bought in the ticket office usually seven days prior to the departure date. During some traditional festivals like Spring Festival, tourists can buy their ticket eight days or more in advance.

There are four ticket office available :

* Dongfang Ticket Office: N0.435, Fuma Lu, Jin'an District
* Zhong Tie Kuai Yun Ticket Office: 16-17, Building 2, Fuyi Xincun, Jiangbin Dadao, Mawei District
*Tangcheng Da Sha Ticket Office: 215, Wuyi Nan Lu (1/F, Tangcheng Dasha), Taijiang District

By Bus

Fuzhou has high level highways and expressways linked to it by a net of highways in China. The city can be reached by bus from cities like Guangzhou,� Wenzhou and Shenzhen outside of the province, and numerous within-province bus routes are available too. It is very convenient to travel from Fuzhou to Xiamen, Quanzhou and other cities in Fujian.

It is very convenient for tourists to go around the Fuzhou downtown area by bus. The ticket price is CNY1; tourists should ensure they have small change prior to boarding, the price increases to CNY2 from May 15th to Oct 15th if the bus is operating its air conditioning.

By Taxi

Fuzhou taxis are relatively cheap, about �8+ for short trips and under �30 for any trip in town. Taxi rates are �8 for the first 3km, and then �1.4 per km and one more after 11PM.

Fuzhou Water Transportation

Mawei HarborThe Min River sea route of Fuzhou is from Nanping to Mawei, the passenger liners of Mawei harbor can bring you to Mt. Putuo, Ningbo etc. Out of the east estuary of the Min River, tourists can get a passage to the main ports of the Yangtze River, north to Shanghai and Qinhuangdao, south to Xiamen and Hong Kong and east to Keelung in Taiwan.
