Wuyishan City

Wuyishan is a county level city which is well known for its beauty landscapes and long histories. The city located in the north-western part of Fujian Province within Nanping Prefecture area. Wuyishan covers an area of 2,798 square kilometers with a population about 210,000, with 5 townships, 5 villages and 6 tea farms. In the vicinity of the city, there are Wuyi Mountain, the most popular tourist destination in Fujian, and the first rank national scenic spot. Wuyi Mountain was granted as UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, both natural and cultural in 1999.

According archeological records, the city was inhabited since 4,000 years ago. Wuyishan was ruled by various dynasties including Yue, Qin, Han, Song and Yuan dynasty. Originally, Wuyishan region was under the administration of the State of Yue, in Southeast China. After Emperor Qin Shihuang (259-210 BC) conquered Yue State, he founded Minzhong Prefecture as a border city, that was the pioneer of the place which is nowadays called Wuyishan City.

In the reigned of Northern Song dynasty (994 AD), the city name was changed to Chong'an County, after a long period, the city was finally renamed as Wuyishan in 1989. In present day, Wuyishan boost as popular tourist destination and world-class tea producer. Key attraction in the vicinity of Wuyishan City are Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, Wuyishan State Nature Reserve, Wuyi Soul Group Sculpture and Ancient Minyue Royal City.

A local subsection of the Wuyishan Mountain range, which forms the entirety of the geological and political divide between the provinces of Fujian and Jiangxi, is a front-rank national park called simply Wuyi Mountains. Since 1999 the park zone has been recognised by UNESCO as part of the world's natural and cultural heritage.

Cultural sites within the zone include the original cultivation ground of the Dahongpao tea variety, and a villa retreat used by Zhu Xi, a Confucian revivalist scholar-official of the rump or Southern Song Empire. South of the zone, just short of the City's border with Jianyang City, is a major archaeological exacavation of the vanished Yue Kingdom

Wuyishan State Nature Reserve

The Wuyi Mountain State Key Nature Reserve is located in the northern part of Wuyi Mountains, with an area of 56,000 hectares. Huanggang Mountain, its main peak, is 2,158m above sea level, making it the highest peak in Southeast China. Some 98.3 percent of the reserve is covered by forests. It is the largest and best-preserved sub-tropical forest ecological system in the southeastern part of China

Minyue Ancient City

Located in Chengcun, southern part of Wuyishan City, Minyue Ancient City is a well preserved ancient city with abundant cultural relics and historical sites. Minyue was an ancient kingdom located in the west Fujian nowadays. The kingdom's founder were Yue royal family who fled after the state was defeated by Chu and Qi states in 334 BC.

The Wuyi Soul Group Sculpture

Wuyi Soul Group Sculpture is situated at the juncture of the city proper of Wuyishan and the tourist attraction. Stand splendor with 14-meter high and made with local produced red granite, the sculpture shows the legendary Peng Zu and his two sons, Peng Wu and Peng Yi, opening up waste land, uprooting brambles and thorns, dispelling evils and slaying beasts on Wuyi Mountains. The figures represent a pristine force of soul and spirit. The theme of the sculpture combines with art and the environment in a harmonious whole, the ultimate icon of Wuyishan city.

The History of Zhuxi's Neo-Confucianism

Wuyi Mountains was the cradle of Zhuxi's Neo-Confucianism, and it's popularly known as "the hub of Neo-Confucianism in the South China". Zhuxi was thought as a greatest adeologist, philosopher and educator after Confucius and he himself was also the representative of Confucianism.

Liu Yong Statue

Liu Yong, first named as "San Bian", with another name of "Jiqing"' later changed to "Yong". As he was the seventh son in the family, he had also been called as Liu Qi.(Seven).He was born in about 98 A.D during North Song Dynasty in Wufuli (nowadays Shanmei County in Wuyishan City) in Wuyishan of Fujian .
