Getting around Putian
Putian enjoy the benefit of coastal location, and most of Putian City area has flat landscapes, due to its location in Xinhua Plain. Getting around Putian is quite easy, support by its highways network around the city and some strategic ports. The most helpful in land transportation is Fuzhou-Xiamen Highway, which is connected Putian to other Fujian's major cities like Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Sanming and Zhangzhou.
By Bus
The bus network in Putian is good and convenient. The easiest and cheapest to getting around Putian city is by bus. There are also buses lead to Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Shanghai, Taiyuan, Shenyang, Wenzhou and other major cities in China.
By Boat
There are many ports in Putian city, including 3 major seaports and some of river ports. Fengting Port located at Meizhou Bay; Sanjiangkou Port situated at the junction of Hanjiang District and Mulan River; and Xiuyu Port at the center point of the southern sailing course of China. Xiuyu Port is the most strategic port in Putian and has been set as a national class port. Located in the middle of Shanghai, Fuzhou and Xiamen, with water area covering 516 square kilometers and the harbor line of deepwater regions extending 30 kilometers. With that advantage , Xiu Yu Port capable to accomodate 100,000 ton vessels, also there is already have regular travel from Xiuyu Port to Hongkong.
