Xiamen Gezai Opera

Gezai Opera is a South Fujian dialect opera which prevails in Minnan, Taiwan and some regions in Southeast Asia where overseas Chinese live in communities. The melody of Gezai Opera comes from folk and easy to understand, so it is warmly welcomed.

Jinge

Jinge is a kind of folk ballad, which formed on the basis of Minnan folk songs and rhymes of the Song and Yuan Dynasties. The style of the Jinge divided into two main schools, Tang and Ting. The Tang school prevails mainly in rural areas where vocal music has the specialty of primitive simplicity, straight and dynamics and the melody is close to folk rhymes. The Ting school prevails in cities where vocal music is elegant, mild and strict in words, voice and rhythm.

Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra

The Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra is based in Xiamen, Fujian Province, People Republic of China. As one of the top orchestras in China, it is the only non-state-owned and self-financing orchestra in the country. Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1998, and plays the majority of its concerts at Music Island Philharmonic Hall.artistic director and founder is Prof. Zheng Xiaoying.

Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra's artistic director and founder is Prof. Zheng Xiaoying. Under the leadership of Zheng Xiaoying, the orchestra reputation has increased rapidly. The orchestra gives more than 80 concerts annually, including education programs and regular weekend concerts in Xiamen. Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra has performed throughout China, East Asia and Europe, with over 350 guest musician.

Mooncake Game During Mid-autumn Festival

Besides enjoying the bright moon and eating moon cakes that are popular throughout the country there is a mooncake game during mid-autumn festival in Xiamen Region. The Mooncake game during mid-autumn festival, has a history of more than three hundred years. It is joyful and interesting, with sound of crackers and fireworks bursting from time to time with endless laughter.

Xiamen Lantern Festival

On the 15th of the first lunar month, there are Lantern Festival in Xiamen. In the streets, big and small, and in every family, beautiful festival lanterns are decorated. They celebrating activities of performing dragon dance, lion dance, walking on stilts, running artificial boats, and perform fireworks. During the night, the transparent palace lanterns merry-go-round lanterns, Baolian lanterns, lotus shape lanterns and elephant shape lanterns shed dazzling brightness in all directions On the surface of the lake, lantern boats row, splendidly attired girls and children perform joyful festive lantern dance.
