Profile of Fuzhou University

Fuzhou University (福州大学) is a public university located in Fuzhou; capital of Fujian Province, China. Founded in 1958, Fuzhou University is one of the national key universities that are selected into the “211 Project”, it is a Chinese government programme for the 21st century to support 100 selected universities for their further rapid development.

Fuzhou University has developed into a key comprehensive university in Fujian Province, giving priority to engineering courses and also enjoying a reputation for excellence in other fields including sciences, economics, management, liberal arts, law, arts and design, etc.

Split into two campuses by the Minjiang River, Fuzhou University's Old Campus is located on the north bank of the river in the western part of Fuzhou City, while the New Campus is located on the edge of the city on the south bank, at the base of Qi Mountain.

Student Enrollment in Fuzhou University

At present, there is an enrollment of more than 26,000 full-time students in Fuzhou University, including approximately 4,000 doctoral and master’s degree students and over 22,000 undergraduate and junior college students. In addition, there are over 1,600 graduate students studying for different professional degrees and over 8,000 students for adult education certificates. Since its establishment, more than 90,000 students with various degrees graduated from the University. Fuzhou University has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan regions and foreign countries.
