The Mandarin Ducks Stream is situated in the northeastern part of Pingnan County, about 30 kilometers away from the down town. Mandarin Ducks Stream covers an area of 78.8 square kilometers, and flows with 18 kilometers long. This is a national scenic area and the only mandarin duck nature reserve in China. The mandarin duck is a lovable bird under the second-class state protection. The secluded hills with a dense growth of trees in the vicinity are the best habitat for the mandarin duck.

Tourists may enjoy the photographic scenes of streams, waterfalls, peaks, caves, ponds, trees and animals in the nearby area. During autumn (early October) to next spring (early April), thousands of beautiful mandarin ducks spend their winter here. It is the best moment if tourists wanna enjoy and take picture of mandarin ducks.

Beside mandarin ducks, this area also famous as habitat of rhesus monkey and some rare plants. The Mandarin Ducks Stream complex looks like crescent moon shape, and has five sections, known as Baishuiyang, Mandarin Ducks Stream, Cha Stream, Shuizhuyang-Kao Stream and Yuanyang Lake.

Baishuiyang section is located in the upper reaches of the Mandarin Ducks Stream, many waterfalls and caves are on both banks of the creek. The Baishuyang section is popular for its "five kilometers street" which is made from three smooth and flat huge rocks at the bottom of the water. Among the three huge rocks the largest is 4,000 square kilometers, with its widest place around 150 meters. It's fantastic to walk on the rock with inch-deep water and to enjoy the flashing waves in the sun.

Mandarin Ducks Scenic Area is located in the middle of the stream, which is surrounded by tree with forest coverage reaches 60%. There are mandarin ducks, rhesus monkeys, rare plants, streams, waterfalls, peaks, rocks, and caves, so people also called it as "Natural Zoo".

Cha Stream is in the lower reaches of Mandarin Ducks Stream, visitors can see the beautiful virgin forests and fabulous river valley.

Shuizhuyang- Kao Stream lies in the west of Cha Stream, there are peaks, valley and Huangshan pines in these area.

The last section is Yuanyang Lake, in these area tourists can see wonderful lake landscape, small islands, flocks of mandarin ducks, four-season azalea, ancient temples and towers.
