Wuyishan Attractions
Located in eastern side of Wuyishan City, there are Wuyi Mountain Major State Scenic Resort, offering wonderful natural landscapes. As the most famous tourist destination in South China, Wuyi Mountains is featured with amazing nature that creates a land with exquisite mountains, winding water and outstanding scenery.
The magnificent and exquisite mountains and waters are the real delight. The clouds and mists of Wuyi Mountain are spectacular and veiled in mystery. The sea of clouds and wove to mists surge above mountain peaks, sometimes heavy and sometimes thin, now moving and then static, which composes magnificent spectacles one after another.
Wuyi Mountain Destination Spots
The Nine Twist Stream (Jiuquxi) flows around the mountains, an interesting river that can be accessed by bamboo rafting. By bamboo rafting, you can view almost all of Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, including Heavenly Tour Peak (Tianyoufeng), Great King Peak (Dawangfeng), and Jade Maiden Peak (Yunufeng). Amazing sceneries in Jiuquxi are perfect blend of waters and hills, forming a marvelous natural sceneries.
Great King Peak (Dawangfeng) stands in the mouth of Nine Twist Stream, has a shape like an ancient Chinese majestic hat. In the opposite direction lying Jade Maiden Peak (Yunufeng), this beauty mountain looks like a standing graceful maiden. There is a fairy tale said that Jade Maiden and Great King was the lover, but they turn to stone mountain by Iron Devil's magic. This demon lately also turn into mountain because of his evil doing to the couple. Nowadays, Iron Slab Mountain stands between Jade Maiden and Great King Peak.
Heavenly Tour Peak (Tianyoufeng) is located in the middle of Nine Twist Stream, which can be seen better from third, fifth and sixth twist. The Peak can be accessed via Tea Plantation Cave, after reach the summit, there are Tianyou Hotel, an exotic building at the top of mountain. Heavenly Tour Peak stands 408 meters high, whenever sky become clear after rainfall, the peak covered by sea of cloud, a miraculous view of fairy land. Blending of these amazing sceneries crowned Wuyi Mountain as the most wonderful mountain in Southeast China.
"Boat-shaped Coffins" in Wuyi mountains can be dated back about 3800-4000 years ago. It is the originating place of the "Boat-shaped coffins" because of its special geographic environment and cultural history. Geographically, Wuyi mountains enjoy many high peaks, winding water, deep valleys and steep cliffs, thus forming different sizes of caves. The Boat-shaped coffins culture is the living fossil of Wuyi history. Drifting down the Nine Twist Stream you'll find the "fairy boats" in the crevice high up on the cliffs on the banks. They are the cultural heritage sites and play a great role in the research of ethnics, history and archeology.
The Water Curtain Cave covers 17 sq km, the area include the following scenic spots: Water Curtain Cave, Pavilions Hanging in The Air, Eagle Beak Rock, Liuxiang Ravine, Bishi Rock, Lotus Flower Peak, and Green Lion Rock. The Water Curtain Cave is the largest rock cavern in Wuyi Mountains, with a slanting top, like upturned eaves. Two streams run down from the top of the cave. Often, the flowing stream water is cut into numerous drops of water by the wind, thus forming a moving water curtain.
